Bunco Rules – How to Play Bunco Online
What is Bunco?
Bunco is a classic American social dice game beloved by women's groups across the United States. Played at kitchen tables and community centers for over 150 years, Bunco brings together friends for rounds of fast-paced dice rolling, laughter, and friendly competition. It requires no special skills — just three dice, a scoresheet, and good company. Now you can play Bunco online free, any time, right in your browser.
Setup
- Players: 4 players split into 2 teams — Red vs Blue
- Dice: 3 standard six-sided dice
- Rounds: 6 rounds total (one for each number on a die: 1 through 6)
- Goal: Win the most rounds out of 6 to win the game
Objective
Be the first team to reach 21 points in a round to win that round. Win more rounds than the opposing team to win the game.
Scoring
- Bunco: Roll all 3 dice matching the current round number — worth 21 points and instantly wins the round.
- Baby Bunco: Roll three of a kind on any number other than the round number — worth 5 points, turn ends.
- Matching Dice: Any dice showing the round number score 1 point each. Roll again and keep accumulating.
- No Match: None of your dice match the round number — 0 points, turn passes.
How a Round Works
Each round targets a specific number (Round 1 = ones, Round 2 = twos, up to Round 6). Players take turns rolling all three dice. Score 1 point per die matching the round number. Roll again if you score. First team to 21 points wins the round.
How to Win the Game
- All 6 rounds must be completed.
- The team with the most round wins (out of 6) wins the game.
- Tiebreaker: If both teams win exactly 3 rounds, a 7th tiebreaker round is played targeting 6.
